19.12.2011

The ceremony of awarding the winners and prize winners of the regional contest for the best lesson on electrical safety took place, which was conducted in the region from May 20 to December 1, 2011. The event was organized by IDGC of Centre — Belgorodenergo division with the Department of Education, Culture and Youth Policy with the support of Belgorod Regional Training and Retraining of Specialists Institute.

The event was attended by Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre — Belgorodenergo division director Victor Filatov, Head general and pre-school education of the Department of Education, Culture and Youth Policy Vladimir Lamanov, Supervisor of Classroom of physical culture and technology of State Educational Institution of Further Professional Education of Belgorod Regional Training and Retraining of Specialists Institute Albert Nikiforov and school teachers of the region.

The purpose of the contest is to create with schoolchildren a culture of safe handling with electricity, the search for new ideas on education, disclosure of the creative potential of teachers. In the last round of the contest about 40 teachers on life safety, teachers of technology, physics, and elementary school took part in it.

Conducting lessons on electrical safety for IDGC of Centre — Belgorodenergo division is traditional. “Our goal is not to frighten the children, and warn against the risks they face, such as playing near power facilities. Unfortunately, sometimes it is very difficult to get through to the modern youth. It is therefore necessary to invent unusual and interesting activities for children, taking part in which they will learn once and for all the vital information. Our work in this direction together with the Department of Education, Culture and Youth Policy of the region helps to prevent the deadly threat posed by the lack of knowledge of basic electrical safety rules”, — stressed Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre — Belgorodenergo division director Victor Filatov.

According to Head of general and pre-school education of the Department of Education, Culture and Youth Policy Vladimir Lamanov, such lessons are conducted in order to explain to children in an accessible and understandable form the basic rules to help avoid threats to the life of electrical shock. It is a challenge, which power engineers, teachers and parents are facing. “Children often are unaware of the dangers posed by electricity. Due to the visibility and non-standard approaches to explaining the basic rules of electrical safety children not only remember, but also strictly follow the recommendations of teachers, utilities specialists, retell the lesson to their friends. Everyone should not only know the rules of electrical safety, but also be able to administer first aid, do not get lost in a difficult situation”, — noted Vladimir Lamanov.

In determining the winners the use of non-traditional approaches by teachers in conducting lessons, the use of quality educational materials, multimedia, technical training media, teaching materials and handouts were took into account.
