IDGC of Centre — Smolenskenergo division regularly conducts activities to improve fire safety at power facilities, and particular importance is given to this activity in the fire hazardous period, which is in April — October.
In this period of the year 27 joint trainings with fire departments of EMERCOM of Russia have been performed to simulate the fire-fighting in the territories of the substations. Proper control over the condition and operation of oil-filled equipment has also been set in place, digging of the territories of the substations on the outer perimeter was made with the protective strip briefings for staff have been held and gravel backfill under the oil-filled equipment has been checked, lists of fire-hazard sites along overhead power lines (OPL) have been corrected and extraordinary inspections of fire-hazard sites along overhead power lines have been conducted in the fire dangerous period.
Smolensk power engineers of IDGC of Centre are clearing ROWs along power lines, checking the status of outdoor and indoor switchyards of substations, oil facilities, including their provision with fire fighting equipment. Completeness and serviceability of primary fire extinguishing equipment, availability of fire fighting water supply and the state of access roads to water and fire hydrants is continuously checked.
