IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division has received the Certificate of readiness for the autumn-winter period

A meeting of the committee was held in IDGC of Centre — Smolenskenergo division during which Head of Technical Inspection Department of IDGC of Centre Oleg Rochagov presented to Head of Smolenskenergo the Certificate of readiness for the autumn-winter period (AWP) 2011-2012.

This event was preceded by careful preparation of the division to work during the period of low temperatures: the regular monitoring of energy facilities by special commissions, a number of organizational and technical measures aimed at improving the reliability of the electric grid of the division.

Under the plan of preparation for the AWP 404 activities and 32 preliminary checks were performed on-site, on the basis of which the improvement notices were issued with the identified requirements and deadlines.

Preliminary Certificates of readiness for the autumn-winter period (AWP) 2011-2012 were presented to all Districts of Electric Networks of the branch, as well as Service of Substations, Power Lines, Diagnostics of electrical equipment, Relay protection and automation, Grid Control Centre and other structural units responsible for electricity supply in the region during the winter loads.

In preparation for the AWP the emergency supply was fully stocked, the employees are provided with special equipment and new equipment for restoration and recovery operations. Six emergency response trainings for emergency elimination at low temperatures were conducted with mobile crews, mobile crews were staffed that can be quickly sent to any part of the region to help districts affected by a disaster, a number of measures on occupational safety has been taken for operators.

With the participation of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, the regional administration and the executive bodies of municipalities a joint training was held to test the interaction in dealing with emergencies involving a threat of a power failure at low ambient air temperatures.

The schedule of emergency limits of consumption of electricity has been developed, agreed and approved and the availability of back-up power supply has been checked. In addition, an important focus area of IDGC of Centre — Smolenskenergo division was ROWs clearing along power lines.

“Receiving this Certificate of readiness is proof of timely and quality implementation of all measures aimed at improving the reliability of power supply of the Smolensk region. This is always preceded by a lot of work on retrofitting and technical upgrading of facilities, as well as carrying out repairs and investment programs. The preparation of the Smolensk branch of IDGC of Centre for the autumn-winter period was in strict accordance with the situation. To date, all the planned activities have been carried out and the branch is ready for the autumn-winter period”, — noted Deputy Director for Technical Issues — Chief Engineer of the division Nikolay Kireenko.
