In I half 2011 four cases of theft, damage or dismantling electric grid equipment were filed at IDGC of Centre — Orelenergo division.
The total damage to the power grid facilities amounted to 83 000 rubles. “Reduction of the damage from theft from the power grid facilities of the division was due to prevention efforts, outreach to the public and active cooperate with law enforcement authorities. Specialists of Orelenergo regularly take joint raids with the police, perform close monitoring and quick response to the theft of the grid facilities property”, — said deputy director for security of the division, Paul Lyubimov.
For six months 2011 one criminal case was filed on the theft facts. As a result of the theft of a transformer TM-40 kVA the material damage to the division amounted to more than 66 thousand rubles. Department of Internal Affairs (Police) of Khotynetsky district instituted criminal proceedings under Part 1, Art. 158 of the Criminal Code.
In the village of Russian Broad a mobile crew of the division found that trespassers dismantled the bus from the main MV switch of the 10/0,4 kV transformer substation. The damage caused by the illegal actions of the criminals was about 1400 rubles.
Easy money lovers cut aluminum wire, thereby causing damage not only to the division but also to the inhabitants of the region. In settlements of Kleimenovo of Bolkhov district and Promklevo of Dmitrov district aluminum wires of 0.4 kV overhead lines were stolen. As a result of the theft the company incurred material damage amounting to 15.3 thousand rubles. The facts were reported to the regional police station for making remedial decision. They are under investigation.
It must be remembered that the theft of property from electric power facilities is a criminal offense. Moreover, thieves will be obliged to pay not only the cost of energy stolen, but also the cost of reconstruction by judicial means. We cannot exclude the aspect of our own safety: theft of metal and equipment form power facilities is life-threatening as they are under voltage.
