Tver hosted the Second Ice Hockey Tournament of IDGC of Centre

13 - 14 February in the capital of the Upper Volga Region the Second Ice Hockey Tournament of IDGC of Centre was held. This year the tournament was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The event was supported by the trade union committee of the company. Six teams met at the ice arena sports complex "Jubilee" - the Executive Office of IDGC of Centre, Belgorod, Kursk, Orel, Tver and Yaroslavl branches of the company.

The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Tverenergo division director Mikhail Pilavov, Deputy General Director - Chief Engineer of IDGC of Centre Alexander Pilyugin, Deputy General Director for HR Management and Organizational Design of IDGC of Centre Inna Gromova, Chairman of the primary trade union organization of IDGC of Centre Victor Ablezgov, Honoured coach of the Russian Federation, the First coach of the team members of the Russian Federation and World Champions Denis Kokorev and Alexander Kutuzov, Ravil Urmancheev.

The ice hockey tournament was opened by Head of the Tver branch of IDGC of Centre Mikhail Pilavov, who noted that the company knowingly starts the new sports year with the bright sporting event in Tver - the City of Military Glory: "We welcome all participants and fans at the festival of sport in which the main thing - it's honest, open courageous competition. I am sure that each team will show an interesting game, will achieve maximum results and enjoy the tournament. I am confident that the passions in the arena will be no less than at the Winter Olympics in Sochi."

On the first day of the tournament hockey games were round-robin competitions, and the teams participating in groups were determined by draw. In the play-offs of the second day of the competitions the places from the 6th to the 1st were played out.

The team of Tverenergo became the winner of the hockey tournament of IDGC of Centre, winning all competitive matches.

Following the tournament the best players in nominations were identified. Head of the Department of Property Management of the Executive Office of IDGC of Centre Dmitry Meneylyuk was recognized as the best goalkeeper. An electrician of a first responding mobile crew of Glazunovsky Distribution Zone of Orelenergo Victor Gordeev was awarded the title of the best defender. The best scorer was a Tver hockey player, a driver of Tverenergo Maxim Malinin. The title of the best striker went to a foreman for diagnostics of power equipment of Oboyansky Distribution Zone of Kurskenergo Alexey Skobelkin.

At the closing of the hockey tournament, Deputy General Director - Chief Engineer of IDGC of Centre Alexander Pilyugin stressed: "Sport is one of the components of the corporate culture of the company. The tournament demonstrated the unity of power engineers of IDGC of Centre, bringing people together not only in the production process, but also on the ice arena. Any sporting events are extremely necessary, firstly, to team building, understanding each other. Power engineers often work in extreme conditions, where the feeling of fellowship, supporting each other is very important. Secondly, sport is an opportunity to express yourself, to show your creativity and individual possibilities and win."

Deputy General Director for HR Management and Organizational Design of IDGC of Centre Inna Gromova underlined: "The organization of sports events is a tradition of the company. Sport develops the best quality - determination, commitment, team spirit, which are needed not only on the sports ground, but also in the daily professional work. We are grateful to the Tver branch for the excellent organization of the event and we hope that we will hold the third hockey tournament in Tver as well, which will bring together at the ice arena all 11 branches of the company, with the support of the Trade Union, which is a partner in cultural and sports activities of IDGC of Centre."

All spectators, among whom there were invited World War II veterans, participants and fans of the tournament remembered the bright hockey holiday, excitement of this struggle in the sports arenas and friendly atmosphere that prevailed in the competition, mutual support of the participants of the tournament.
