IDGC of Centre has received new cable test vans

12 February 2014

New cable test vans have already been received at the disposal of diagnosticians of branches of IDGC of Centre. They will provide an opportunity as soon as possible to perform high voltage and electrical tests and measurements, diagnostics of all elements of substation and distribution equipment to maintain electric grid facilities in operation.

Cable test vans, equipped with diagnostics systems, are designed for high-voltage and electrical tests and measurements, diagnostics of all elements of the substation and distribution equipment, etc. Specialists of IDGC of Centre and its branches widely use cable test vans to perform high voltage and electrical tests and measurements of substation equipment, scheduled and unscheduled inspections of cables – in order to fulfill the main task of the energy complex: to ensure reliable operation of power grid facilities.

IDGC of Centre — Belgorodenergo division commissioned ten cable test vans designed for testing and measuring parameters that characterize the technical condition of cables and substation equipment. The entire list of the equipment installed in the cable test vans was certified, verified, included in the State register of measuring instruments and passed the mandatory certification. Some cable test vans are special for diagnostics of cables, including XLPE insulation, the others are for testing substation equipment: high-voltage leads-in, current and voltage transformers, power transformers, surge arresters, etc. In case of power failure, cable test vans have redundant power supply sources to ensure the smooth operation of the laboratory.

In 2013 Kirsanovsky section of the diagnostics service of IDGC of Centre - Tambovenergo division received a cable test van manufactured in Russia, assembled on the basis of a four-wheel drive vehicle Gazelle. The cable test van body is divided into two parts: the high voltage compartment, where there is test equipment and space for the operator and the driver’s compartment, in which the vehicle control system and seats for passengers are located. The cable test van is equipped with heating and air conditioning systems for the comfort of staff, necessary protective equipment to perform the full range of high voltage tests and measurements.
