IDGC of Centre in 2013 exceeded the annual plan for clearing ROWs of overhead lines by 3%

22 January 2014

IDGC of Centre following the results of 2013 exceeded the annual program of clearing ROWs of overhead power lines (conductors). Specialists of the company in excess of the annual plan cleared 320 hectares of ROWs, its performance was at 102.9%.

Clearing ROWs is conducted in accordance with the Multi-Year Plan for Clearing ROWs of 0.4-110 kV Conductors of IDGC of Centre and is designed for a five-year cycle of the work period in order to maintain them in the regulatory state. According to the plan, in particular, in the service area of IDGC of Centre in the period from 2013 to 2018 it is planned to clear 96.2 thousand hectares of ROWs.

Over 50% of the planned amount of work falls on the branches of Tverenergo (28.0 thousand hectares), Smolenskenergo (12.3 thousand hectares) and Kostromaenergo (10.9 thousand hectares). Despite the large amounts for the period from 2011 to 2013 the above-mentioned branches cleared 0.57 thousand hectares over the plan. Their specialists are successful doing this job in the current year too. Clearing ROWs is conducted year-round, all depending on weather conditions. Even hitting those regions in late autumn a snow anomalous cyclone could not stop implementation of the planned values.

All activities for clearing ROWs along power lines are performed in strict accordance with the regulations and the requirements of the legislation. «Clearing exclusion zones of overhead power lines is a mandatory direction of repair and maintenance activities, one of the most important conditions for reliable energy supply. This work helps minimize the risk of technological failures caused by falling trees on wires of overhead lines,» stressed Deputy Chief Engineer for managing power grid facilities Evgeny Turapin.
