IDGC of Centre helps develop digital broadcasting in the subjects of the Central Federal District

IDGC of Centre’s specialists provide grid connection to the electricity networks of digital broadcasting facilities in the regions of its service area in the Central Federal District. Significant amount of this work was performed in the past year, and before the end of 2014 the company plans to complete it in the majority of the subjects in its service area.

So, in 2013 IDGC of Centre implemented grid connection of facilities of a digital television network in eight districts of the Belgorod region, and in the regional centre it provided power supply of a new television and radio station. To meet its customer contract demand power engineers of IDGC of Centre — Belgorodenergo division constructed ten new and reconstructed three existing cable lines of 6 and 0.4 kV, as well as increased capacity of transformers in the transformer substation, which feeds the new TV tower.

In the Bryansk and Voronezh regions the work to provide power supply to digital broadcasting facilities in 2013 was completed: in these regions IDGC of Centre connected to the grids 22 and 32 digital transmission stations respectively.

In the Lipetsk region by the end of 2013 30 new digital broadcasting transponders were connected to the grid. As a result, all district centres of the region have access to free digital television. Until the end of January in the region other three modern repeaters will begin functioning and with their commissioning all the work that IDGC of Centre performs within contracts concluded with the Lipetsk Regional Broadcasting Centre (Radio and Television Transmitting Centre) will be completed. The company also plans to finish all the work to connect to networks of digital broadcasting facilities in the first quarter of 2014 in the Smolensk region. Currently IDGC of Centre has implemented grid connection of most facilities providing development of digital broadcasting in the region (26 of 28). In the Kostroma region by the end of 2013 13 digital broadcasting repeaters were connected to the grid, for June 2014 the last grid connection is scheduled, the largest facility — the Kostroma Radio and Television Transmitting Centre, which is being commissioned after its reconstruction. Also, in 2014, according to signed contracts with the regional radio and television transmitting centres, IDGC of Centre plans to complete the connection of digital broadcasting facilities in the Kursk, Tambov, Tver and Yaroslavl regions to the grid.

The last regions of the service area zone of responsibility of IDGC of Centre, fully covered with digital broadcasting stations, will be the Belgorod and Orel regions. Work on their grid connection is to be completed there in 2015. And in the Orel region, starting from this year, IDGC of Centre is planning to connect 26 facilities to the grid at once.

In total, within the execution of the work to provide grid connection of the digital broadcasting infrastructure IDGC of Centre will connect 230 facilities to the grid.

Transfer of television broadcasting in the subjects of the Central Federal District to the digital format is carried out in the framework of the Federal Target Program (FTP) «Development of broadcasting in the Russian Federation for 2009-2015». As a result of its implementation 97.6% of Russians will have possibility of free access to two dozens of TV channels with high quality picture and sound.
