Power engineers of IDGC of Centre are continuing to eliminate the consequences of the natural disaster

27 November 2013

For the second day the power engineers of IDGC of Centre are continuing to eliminate the effects of the cyclone, which hit the north- western part of the Central Federal District (Tver, Yaroslavl, Smolensk and Kostroma region). Major violations in the power supply were caused by snow build-up on the wires and strong gusty winds. Currently, the company’s specialists have managed to restore the power supply for about 80% of interrupted consumers. First of all the restoration work was performed at infrastructure facilities. In the Smolensk region the power supply has been fully restored.

In the course of the work performance the company involved its own staff, resources of neighbouring subsidiaries of JSC «Russian Grids» — IDGCs and FGC UES, as well as contractors. Currently 271 first responding and repair crews totalling 997 people with 284 necessary vehicles are working to eliminate the effects of the bad weather.

Throughout the restoration activities the power engineers of IDGC of Centre are in constant interaction with the electric grid complex staff of JSC «Russian Grids». The emergency response centre operates around the clock. The work is being performed in a continuous operation mode and will continue until full power supply is restored in the regions hit by the bad weather.
