IDGC of Centre is performing a full-scale preparation for the autumn and winter peak loads. The company has given this issue close attention: the entire staff is focused on quality and timely implementation of all planned for autumn-winter period 2012/13 measures.

In preparation for the upcoming peak load the experience gained in the previous autumn-winter period was analyzed, all the possible difficulties faced by the branches were taken into account. More than two thousand actions were identified, implementation of which will significantly increase the reliability of the grid complex in the winter.
This year, the amount of maintenance program was significantly increased, funding for which will exceed 1.49 billion rubles. In the first half of the year IDGC of Centre has already repaired 1890 transformer substations of
Compared with the previous year the amount of clearing and expansion of ROWs narrowed by projects along overhead lines was also increased by 1.5 times. Falling trees and branches on the line is still the leading cause of disturbances in the autumn-winter period. This is why power engineers are focusing on this work increasingly. In the first half of 2012 IDGC of Centre has already cleared 4,794 hectares of ROWs along power lines. Clearing of exclusion zones in the required amount was made possible by changes in legislation, initiated by a joint working group of IDGC Holding and the Federal Forestry Agency. This year, the branches of IDGC of Centre signed a long-term agreement on cooperation with regional forestry authorities. They provide for the implementation of joint measures to bring ROWs of overhead power lines crossing woodlands to normative values.
One of the priorities of IDGC of Centre in preparation for next autumn-winter period is the formation of its emergency reserve. Thanks to its availability power engineers can minimize the time of the restoration work in the force majeure conditions for mass outages of consumers. In accordance with the approved standards the nomenclature of each branch’s emergency reserve includes about 500 items: wire and insulators of different brands, reinforced racks, power and instrument transformers, switches, etc. In case of emergency, each branch has in reserve transformer oil, spare parts for switching devices, couplings and fittings, low voltage equipment, relay protection and automation equipment and others. As of August 1, 2012 the centralized company’s emergency reserve is stocked at 100%.
A reliable potential during the operation through the autumn-winter period is also the reserve, numbering in the aggregate 90 first responding and restoration crews with increased mobility of a total of 519 people. 164 pieces of special equipment are at their disposal. Their presence will allow the company to respond quickly to possible major technological violations and if necessary to connect facilities in a timely manner.
In order to improve staff development and working out operational activities in the event of an emergency together with the EMERCOM of Russia until the end of the year 11 joint exercises and training workouts for the detection and elimination of glazed frost, snow buildup on the wire and ground wires will be held.
