IDGC of Centre strengthens partnership with the regional departments of forestry

4 July 2012

Branches of IDGC of Centre enter into long-term agreements on cooperation with regional authorities of forestry.

The most important task of IDGC of Centre is the prevention of technological disturbances on power lines. In this regard, the Company pays close attention to the maintenance of forest clearings along power lines in a safe condition, as the cause of a power failure occur most often because of falling trees on power lines under the influence of environmental factors (“ice rain”, hurricanes, etc.). In 2011 within a special production program the volume of ROW clearing and expansion reached 21,000 hectares.

At the same time in order to restore and maintain the natural balance IDGC of Centre carries out compensatory planting of greenery. This work is part of the target program of IDGC Holding “Electricity Distribution Complex — for the environment” (“Save the energy of the forest”). This year, employees of IDGC of Centre have planted nearly 50,000 trees, by the end of the year it is planned to plant more around 20,000 seedlings.

In order to strengthen and develop cooperation in the field of forest management, to create the necessary conditions for the operation of facilities and power plants, to minimize the impact on forest resources and environment branches of IDGC of Centre enter into long-term partnership agreements with the regional forestry authorities.

One of these agreements with the Department of Forestry of the Smolensk region has been recently signed by IDGC of Centre — Smolenskenergo division.

The parties agreed to coordinate their actions in matters of forest management, since currently there are parts of the forest fund, which power lines owned by the branch go through, and the control over the use of forests for construction, renovation and operation of the lines is carried out by the Department of Forestry. Also under the agreement measures will be taken to prevent violations of forest law: the parties intend to submit proposals at the regional level with the drafting of legal acts in the field of forest management. According to this agreement Smolenskenergo will continue to provide compensatory tree planting. In the near future a cooperation agreement will be signed between the MUP “Gorzelenhoz” of the city of Smolensk and Smolenskenergo.

Please, be reminded that in 2012 similar agreements on cooperation were signed between IDGC of Centre — Orelenergo division and the Department of Forestry of the Orel region, the Forestry Department of the Kostroma region and IDGC of Centre — Kostromaenergo division, the Department of Forestry of the Belgorod region and IDGC of Centre — Belgorodenergo division, the Forestry Department of the Yaroslavl region and IDGC of Centre — Yarenergo division.
