April 28 executives of IDGC of Centre and specialists of the executive office of the Company participated in the target communications program of IDGC Holding “Electricity Distribution Complex — for the environment” (“Save the energy of the forest”) and planted trees in the Temple of the descent of the Holy Spirit (Moscow).
The planting site was not chosen by chance. It was here, in the Temple of the descent of the Holy Spirit in the Lazarev Cemetery, the relics of St. Spyridon the Wonderworker and Tremithous, patron saint of the electric distribution grid complex are stored. Please, be reminded that the naming of the saint patron of power engineers was held on December 25, 2010 with the blessing of Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill.
In his address to the participants of the action Father John said: “We are happy to cooperate with such a reputable company like IDGC of Centre, and we are pleased to support your good cause- to plant trees and ennoble the territory of the Temple of the descent of the Holy Spirit. This day is full of symbolism. Our Temple keeps the relics of St. Spyridon Tremithous, the patron saint of power engineers. According to the church tradition it was he who performed many miracles associated with the cultivation of fields. In his prayer life took on new seedlings, fallen in showers and prolonged flooding”.
“Today we have gathered to take part in an important event — tree planting within the action of IDGC Holding ‘Save the energy of the forest’- said Advisor to General Director of IDGC of Centre Viktor Ablezgov. — Let me remind you that our Company has been involved in this action from its very beginning. In 2011, the staff planted nearly 20,000 trees. This year, only for one weekend, the power engineers of IDGC of Centre planted about 25,000 trees. The today’s event in Moscow is our contribution to the general good cause”.
During the event, a short prayer and consecration of seedlings was made. On that day, the event’s participants, among whom were representatives of the Board of Veterans of IDGC of Centre, planted 25 spruce seedlings and 8 arborvitae seedlings. After the tree planting the clerics held a tour for the participants of the action to the Temple complex of the descent of the Holy Spirit in the Lazarev cemetery.
