Innovation Project of IDGC of Centre is the winner at the International Conference

9 September 2011

From 5 to 9 September 2011 XXIV International youth scientific-technical conference “Innovations in power industry” was held at the centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the Moscow region. The project “Innovative development and R&D of IDGC of Centre”, presented by the head of R&D and projects of the company, Anatoly Khostantsev, won first place in the section “Power plants and grids”.

The main components of the project are innovative engineering solutions of the company, providing, first of all, for the introduction of modern equipment. They include: 0.4 and 10 kV voltage boosters, designed to stabilize voltage and increase network capacity, compact gas-insulated 110 kV modules, which provide easy maintenance and high economic efficiency, multi-faceted steel poles for 10 kV overhead power lines, resistant to weather conditions and are not subject to damage during earth fault current going through the body of the pole.

From the presentation of Anatoly Khostantsev the participants of the conference learned that in the regions where the company operates street lighting is being upgraded: new modern lighting fixtures have lower power consumption, require no service, they have a long service life — up to 25 years, in addition, they allow you to perform automatic control and diagnosis of street lighting control cabinets.

Specialists of IDGC of Centre use the OMS / DMS management system based on Telvent DMS software, which allows you to: monitor the implementation of unplanned and planned switchings, load in the grid; to analyze electric energy distribution; to optimize voltage to minimize losses; to simulate the grid operation in normal and emergency conditions.

One important innovation project of the company is to change the topology of 0.4 — 10 kV distribution networks. A new approach to networks construction provides an opportunity to develop the network in any direction without loss of transmission capacity and reducing the quality parameters of electric energy, high reliability of elements of power lines and the entire system, low risk of outages and faults, provides wide opportunities for new customer connections.

In accordance with the Innovative Program IDGC of Centre in 2012 will begin implementation of typified projects of the grid construction with the use of pole mounted transformer substations that will increase grid capacity, provide the required quality of electricity and the possibility of technological connection of new customers.

“One of the main conditions for achieving the strategic goal of IDGC of Centre — leadership in the electric distribution sector of Russia is to support innovative development. Without the use of new, modern equipment, the modernization of technological processes cannot improve the work of power engineers, increase energy efficiency. The innovative development of IDGC of Centre until 2016 will be implemented in several ways, the most promising should be considered to be the development of R&D, innovative technologies, equipment and materials”, — said Deputy General Director for Technical Issues — Chief Engineer of IDGC of Centre, Sergey Schumakher.

For information:

XXIV International conference was attended by about 220 young scientists, representing the largest power, power grid companies, and scientific research and design institutes from 9 countries of the CIS. Among the jury members are specialists of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Federal Grid Company. In total at the event 156 projects were presented, of which 18 in the section “Power plants and grids”. The organizers of the event are the Executive Committee of the CIS Council on utilities and OJSC “INTER RAO UES”.
