By the end of 2019, the first digital Distribution Zone will appear in IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division. It will be Borisovsky Distribution Zone, serving the territory of Borisovsky district. Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division director Sergey Demidov spoke about it at a production meeting with chiefs of Distribution Zones.
The complex program on digital transformation of the electric grid complex of Belgorodenergo was launched after signing an agreement with the regional government aimed at the long-term development of the electric grid complex of the region using digital technologies. According to Sergey Demidov, the power engineers have been set a large-scale task of radically transforming the electric grid infrastructure through the implementation of digital technologies. One of the main projects will be the “Digital Distribution Zone”, which provides for a qualitative update of technological and managerial processes.
Five Distribution Zones were chosen as pilot sites for the implementation of the “Digital Distribution Zone” project - Borisovsky, Belgorodsky, Yakovlevsky, Valuysky and Belgorod Distribution Zones, while the electric grid complex of Borisovsky Distribution Zone will be digitized by the end of this year, the rest - during the next three years.
One of the main directions of the implementation of the “Digital Distribution Zone” project will be the construction of a 6-10 kV smart grid based on intelligent switching devices, which allow real-time fault location, automatically transferring the load from the faulty to the normal section of the grid.
It is planned to additionally install 13 reclosers and 37 sets of controlled disconnectors, which will instantly disconnect the faulty grid section and reserve most of the load, on extended 6-10 kV high voltage lines supplying socially significant consumers of Borisovsky district. All 332 transformer substations of 6-10 kV will be equipped with telemetry devices, providing control of voltage at outgoing feeders of 0.4 kV and opening doors of the transformer substations with data transfer to the operational information complex of the Grid Control Centre. All inputs of 0.4 kV will be equipped with smart metering devices of the AMR (automated system of electricity metering). This will provide an opportunity to switch to a new principle of work organization with the use of per-feeder grid analysis.
According to specialists’ calculations, the implementation of digital technologies in the electric grid complex of Borisovsky district will allow a 41.6% reduction in operational costs for fault location, a 31.6% reduction in undersupply of electricity, and an average decrease of restoration time for power supply to consumers by 28.6%, and a loss reduction by 11%, and will provide the ability to respond quickly to any emergency situations, not allowing long-term power supply limitation to consumers. The project will be implemented before the end of this year, about 80 million rubles will be allocated for this purpose.
The implementation of the “Digital Distribution Zone” projects is part of the general concept of digital transformation approved by IDGC of Centre, PJSC in pursuance of the General Concept of “Digital Transformation 2030” of PJSC ROSSETI. Belgorodenergo was included in the number of pilot regions in which the implementation of digitalization will begin in 2019 and will be conducted over the next three years. The concept of “Digital Transformation 2030” implies a complete transformation of the domestic electric grid infrastructure through the implementation of digital technologies. The result will be a significant reduction in operating and investment costs of grid companies, reducing electricity losses, improving reliability, availability of power supply and creating a whole range of value-added customer services.
