IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division started making preparations for operation through spring high water. As part of this work, the energy company is implementing a set of measures aimed at ensuring reliable, trouble-free operation of power grid facilities and structures of safe living of the Kursk region during the flood period.
The branch established a flood commission, which is called upon to coordinate the work of various units preparing for floods. Before the flood period the power engineers are strengthening foundations of power line poles and checking the condition of all substations located near rivers and entering the risk zone; cleaning snow from transformer and distribution points, putting in order drainage structures, drainage systems and pumping devices.
Emergency supplies of electrical equipment and materials, fuels and lubricants have been created and are available. The working capacity of remote signaling, communication and alerting facilities, which are necessary for prompt interaction with operators of Kurskenergo, divisions of the General Directorate of the EMERCOM of Russia in the Kursk region and municipal authorities, is being checked.
In case of need, Kurskenergo will be able to attract 10 mobile crews consisting of 76 people and 21 vehicles to carry out emergency repairs. In reserve there are 30 more emergency and restoration crews, one in each Distribution Zone. In case of a sharp rise in water and flooding of power facilities, reserve schemes for power supply of settlements will be used.
