On the eve of the 72nd anniversary of the Great Victory, employees of Shebekinsky Distribution Zone of IDGC of Centre – Belgorodenergo division installed lighting of the memorial complex of the Great Patriotic War on the outskirts of the village of Rzhavets in Shebekinsky district. To illuminate the site in front of the monument and the adjacent territory the power engineers installed two metal poles with energy-saving lamps and spotlights and laid 130 metres of a cable power line.

"Every year we try to improve monuments located in remote villages and settlements," says the chief of Shebekinsky Distribution Zone Andrey Abrosimov. This is our common duty. The monument in the village of Rzhavets will now be seen in the dark."

The memorial in Shebekinsky district was built in May 1975 in memory of soldiers of the 72nd, 226th -95th and 213th Guards Infantry Divisions and anti-aircraft gunners of the 5th Bratislava Artillery Division, who took part fierce battles in the summer of 1943 there in the framework of the Battle of Kursk. In addition to the obelisk, there is an anti-aircraft 85mm gun and a mortar. On the commemorative plaque the names of three particularly distinguished participants in those battles are carved: Senior Sergeant Alexander Zuborev, Guard Lieutenant Vladimir Kolesnikov and Guard Sergeant Vasily Kuznetsov. For the courage and heroism shown during the liberation of Maslova Pristan from the Nazi invaders, all the three were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. Residents of Shebekino cherish the memory of their feat with special trepidation.
