As part of the initiative of the Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Education of Russia to hold 15 December 2015 in schools of the Russian Federation thematic lesson on energy efficiency, specialists of IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division held classes in 25 schools of the Kursk region and the city of Kursk.
The power engineers told schoolchildren about kinds of energy, its renewable and not renewable sources, explained the ground rules of energy saving in the home. This, for example, is installation of the refrigerator in the coolest part of the room, use of the washing machine only with the fully loaded drum, switching on the air conditioner or heater only behind closed doors and windows, etc.
The experts of Kurskenergo also advised the schoolchildren not to leave home appliances in standby mode - to unplug appliances or use of the off button on the machine. Turning off unused devices allows saving on average 200 - 300 kWh electricity per year. In addition, the children learned that plugged chargers of mobile phones, cameras consume electricity even when not in use.
The lessons were accompanied by themed videos, which were developed by specialists of IDGC of Centre for education of children with respect to the careful use of energy resources.
The logical conclusion of the thematic lesson on energy efficiency was a solemn ceremony of awarding winners of decorative and applied works "Energy saving - a reasonable decision", which was held in IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division. The children's competition, organized by the branch, aroused great interest among schoolchildren of the region and collected 70 diverse works. Most of them were awarded by the jury for a non-standard approach to showing an energy-efficient lifestyle, examples of rational use of energy resources. The winners received diplomas and gifts, and their teachers were marked with letters of thanks.
"Lessons on energy efficiency, thematic contests help creating personal interest with the children in saving and, therefore, in addressing the urgent problem of energy saving," stressed Elena Egorova, Director of Municipal Budgetary General Education Institution "Secondary school №12 named after S.N. Perekalskiy" in the city of Kursk.
