Belgorodenergo promptly eliminated a conventional power outage

In preparation for the autumn-winter operation period in the Belgorod region a joint command-staff exercise was held to eliminate massive power outages in the grid facilities of the region. IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division worked out cooperation with General Directorate of EMERCOM of Russia in the Belgorod region, Belgorod Regional Dispatch Office, a branch of PJSC "SO UES", Chernozemnoye enterprise MES, a branch of PJSC "FGC UES", and a branch of PJSC "Quadra" - "Southern Generation" and bodies of executive authorities of municipalities of the region.

Under the conditions occurred, a sharp decrease in temperature, strong winds with gusts up to 25 m/s and snowfall switched off 200 transformer substations, more than 5 thousand people were left without electricity.

The crisis management centre of Belgorodenergo immediately took control of the situation, the branch introduced a special operation mode, which was to mobilize the necessary forces and means to restore the electricity supply to consumers with backup circuits, priority re-energization of socially important facilities, including with the use of mobile diesel generators, rapid control of the work of lines and substations.

The fast deterioration in weather conditions led to a sharp increase in the number of de-energized facilities throughout the region. At 9:55 a.m. outage occurred at two power lines of 110 kV, which feed the 110 kV substation "Avtoremzavod" in the regional centre. In total in the region 107 conductors of 6-10 kV and 1,257 transformer substations were de-energized. There was no electricity in 89 settlements, more than 90 thousand people, 175 socially important facilities, including 77 boiler houses, 14 hospitals and 84 children’s educational institutions, 23 mobile generator sets were involved to provide power supply of vital facilities in all districts of the region. 99 operational and maintenance and repair crews of 328 people and 101 special vehicles equipment were involved in the emergency and restoration operation.

As a result of the concerted action of power engineers at 04.30 p.m. the power supply all the disconnected customers was restored.

Deputy Chief Engineer for operational, technological and situational management - Head of the Grid Control Centre of IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division Alexey Bryazgunov noted coordination of actions of all participants of the exercise: "On the eve of the autumn-winter operation period, these exercises provide an opportunity to test the operational readiness of emergency services for the elimination of consequences of natural and man-made disasters and, most importantly, to work out practical skills of interaction between all stakeholders. In a critical situation, in the cold season, it can be a decisive factor for the fastest possible restoration of power supply to consumers, the work of housing and communal services and the situation stabilization in the region as a whole."
