On the Day of Knowledge, 1 September 2015, employees of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division took part in the opening line-up of the branch of "National Research University "MPEI" in Smolensk dedicated to the Day of Knowledge. "NRU MPEI" in Smolensk is the largest in the region accredited by the state educational complex for training highly qualified engineering and economic staff - a specialized university for Smolenskenergo.
Today’s holiday was the opportunity for future power engineers to meet professionals of Smolenskenergo, who not only gave them good wishes, but also talked about the profession, which freshmen will have to familiarize with.
First Deputy Director - Chief Engineer of Smolensenergo Nikolay Kireenko in his opening speech congratulated the students of the energy institution on the beginning of the academic year and the beginning of a new - student - stage of their lives. He wished the freshmen successful study, perseverance in mastering their future profession and desire to constantly improve themselves, not to be afraid of difficulties. "Smolenskenergo needs professional staff, and we will be glad to see you in a few years as employees of our company. But to make a successful career, you can only by getting a quality higher education. We wish you success in school for the entire period of study. Remember that our life is constant study and test for strength, and your training - it is only the beginning of a long journey into adulthood and the profession," he concluded.
Good words of encouragement and invitation to work next summer came from the Commissioner of the students’ crew of Smolenskenergo Konstantin Ivanov. During the line-up the students were introduced to the teaching staff, the leadership of the university, representatives of the trade union committee of students. And at the end of the official part of the event the first-year students had an opportunity to chat with the most active members of senior courses, take a short tour of the building of the university.

Smolenskenergo pays great attention to cooperation with educational institutions in the region. And there are various forms of interaction. So, students of the branch of "National Research University "MPEI" in Smolensk have annually industrial practice and externship at the energy company, including its facilities, allowing them to gain additional knowledge, and the company to carry out targeted training of the most promising and talented young people as future employees. The students’ crew’s movement has been already developing for two years, and students work at power facilities. Employees of the company, in turn, have at the university training and retraining.
One of extracurricular forms of cooperation is the participation of Smolenskenergo in the fate of the search scout team of the university "Energy", which has been operating for over 10 years. Representatives of the energy company provide various kinds of assistance to the team, highly appreciate the job of the scouts to perpetuate the memory of those who died for their country and strongly support this noble mission.
