A new students’ construction crew started its work in the walls of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division July 1, 2015. For the second year in a row the company practices inviting students of the university to work at power facilities of the Smolensk region.
The branch is trying to diversify the students’ construction crew’s life of young people and make it not only interesting but also informative. So a few days after the launch of the season, an excursion to the Grid Control Center (GCC) of Smolenskenergo was organized. It was held for the young people by Deputy Chief Engineer for operational and technological management (Chief of the GCC) Sakhib Bruno. He introduced the structure of the enterprise and of the Centre to the young people, said about features of an operator’s workplace at the Grid Control Centre, the necessary equipment for work of operators, they saw the most interesting and modern grid management technologies, which could not be seen in the classroom at the institute and in the books, and most importantly they were able to watch operators at work in real time.
The students were active to ask questions about the work of operators, the features of the Smolensk power system, the history of the development of the operational and technological service. During the tour the future power engineers proved their high level of training in the higher educational institution.
"The young people liked the whole tour, some of us have already been to the GCC, but many have visited for the first time, learned about the history of the operators’ service of the Grid Control Centre, met with the new equipment. Many young people liked it there so much so they want in the future to get a job here. There is something to strive for," said the leader of the construction crew "Power" Konstantin Ivanov.

IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division cooperates with the university for many years. Training of highly qualified personnel, internship of undergraduates and manufacturing practice on the site of the branch, supervising diploma and course works, participation of leading experts of the branch in the final examination commissions, holding competitions of scientific projects among works of bachelors, masters and specialists - only a small part of the collaboration. In 2014 there is another new form of cooperation - students’ construction crews, which from July 1, 2014 began their work under the guidance of Smolenskenergo. A year later, the tradition was continued, and in July 2015 the new students’ crew "Power" started to work at electric power facilities of the Smolensk region.
