On the Day of Memory and Sorrow Tambovenergo’s employees took part in commemorative events

Employees of IDGC of Centre - Tambovenergo division participated in events that passed in the regional centre dedicated to the Day of Memory and Sorrow and the 74th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War.

The power engineers began the day of 22 June with a visit to the Military Historical Museum of the 2nd Guards Army, acting on the site of gymnasium #12 named after G.R. Derzhavin in Tambov. The army was formed in Tambov in the autumn of 1942 and the only one of all the field armies immediately received the Guards title. It included units and soldiers, who distinguished themselves in the defense of Moscow and Stalingrad. Workers of Tambovenergo saw exhibits, photographs, documents, collected by schoolchildren and teachers of high school, dedicated to its heroic combat path, which ended in 1945 in Koenigsberg.

The main events of the Day of Memory and Sorrow were traditionally held at the Vozdvizhenskoye Memorial Cemetery in Tambov, where there are buried soldiers, who died of wounds in hospitals of Tambov, as well as war veterans. Participants of the rally were hundreds of Tambov residents, among them leaders of the city and region, veterans, representatives of youth organizations and the public. Together with them the power engineers commemorated the fallen with a minute of silence, and after the funeral service and the solemn march of the flag group laid wreaths and flowers at the monument to the Wall of Memory at the Grieving Mother Monument.

"In our country almost every family has its own heroes. They are also among Tambov power engineers. Employees of Tambovenergo revere the memory of victims of the Great Patriotic War. They will be kept in our hearts forever," stressed Head of Administration - Chief of Staff of IDGC of Centre - Tambovenergo division Andrey Remizov.

The front did not reach Tambov - the enemy was stopped on the way, and the city where there were many military factories was regularly bombed from the air. About 460,000 residents of Tambov went to the front, where almost 250,000 countrymen did not return. Tambov was not only an important military-industrial town in the rear, but a real hospital centre for treatment of wounded soldiers who came in hundreds of thousands to Tambov from a variety of fronts. Now the names of those, whose wounds were fatal, are engraved on the Wall of Memory at the Grieving Mother Monument.
