21.04.2015

Timely and quality preparation for the winter peak demand period allowed IDGC of Centre - Lipetskenergo division to ensure quality and trouble-free power supply to consumers of the Lipetsk region in the autumn-winter operation period of 2014-2015.

The key to success during the autumn-winter operation period was the implementation of a set of measures on technical upgrading, modernization and reconstruction of equipment, the target program to improve the reliability and performance of the repair program.

As part of the repair program in 2014 Lipetskenergo’s power engineers implemented comprehensive repair of 8 feeding centres and 156 transformer substations of 10 kV. The largest facilities of the repair program were the 110/35/10 kV Substation "Khvorostyanka" in Dobrinsky district, the 110/10 kV Substation "Kuyman", the 110/35/10 kV Substation "Troekurovo" and the 110/10 kV Substation "Lukoshkino" in Lebedyansky district.

Within the scope of repairs in 2014 by 21,302 thousand insulators of power lines and 2,770 thousand power line poles were replaced, 39 switches of 6-110 kV were repaired.

From the words of First Deputy Director - Chief Engineer of Lipetskenergo Alexander Kornilov, the repair of power equipment is indispensable to ensure reliability of the power grid complex and successful operation through autumn-winter peak loads.

Relay protection and automation, supervisory process control, industrial and office buildings as well as mechanization and vehicles were also renovated totalling 42,128 million rubles.

Particular attention is, as before, was given to the activities of clearing and extension of ROWs that reduce technological disturbances caused by falling trees onto wires of overhead lines under the weight of snow and wind loads. In 2014, the branch’s power engineers cleared of overgrown trees and bushes an area of 628.7 hectares of ROWs, as well as expanded 136.3 hectares of ROWs along power lines.

In general, Lipetskenergo spent 156.8 million rubles to finance the repair program.

To improve the skills of staff to act in emergency situations the branch held 11 emergency response drills and 22 training exercises.

For rapid response to emergency situations Lipetskenergo formed emergency reserve, all 18 Distribution Zones are equipped with redundant power supply sources.

The branch also created 9 mobile crews with 65 specialists and 26 special vehicles designed for quick transfer of additional forces between branches. If necessary, 34 crews of contractors of 331 people and 115 special vehicles can be attracted to participate in first responding and restoration work.

During the past autumn and winter period emergency crews of Lipetskenergo 3 times came to the aid of colleagues from neighbouring distribution companies for responding and restoration operations at IDGC of South - Rostovenergo, IDGC of South - Volgogradenergo and IDGC of Volga - Penzaenergo.

The autumn-winter period of 2014-2015 proved once again that the key to trouble-free operation of winter peak demand is high-quality preparation, execution of all planned activities, strict compliance with current regulatory and technical documentation, readiness for emergency situations and the power system unity.

Currently Lipetskenergo has started repair work in preparation for the autumn-winter operation period of 2015-2016.
