Voronezhenergo ensured reliable power supply to consumers in the autumn-winter operation period of 2014-15

20.04.2015

IDGC of Centre - Voronezhenergo division summed up the autumn-winter operation period of 2014-15. During this period Voronezh power engineers ensured reliable and uninterrupted power supply to consumers. Major technological violations were not recorded. Failure rate in the grids was reduced by 2.18% compared to the same period last year.

The key to the reliable operation of the electric grid complex of the Voronezh region during the autumn-winter operation period was a high degree of responsibility of Voronezhenergo’s staff for their work performed, as well as quality preparation for winter peak loads within the repair program. The power engineers repaired 578.6 km of power lines of 35-110 kV and 1,002.2 km of overhead lines of 0.4-10 kV, eight supply centres of 35-110 kV and 670 package transformer substations of 0.4-10 kV. Particular attention was paid to overhead power lines, the most vulnerable during snowfalls, icing and higher wind loads.

The power engineers also as part of the repair program implementation cleared overgrown and expanded 1,760 hectares and 426.4 hectares of ROWs of overhead power lines, respectively. This allowed to minimize the number of power outages caused by falling trees onto power lines under the weight of snow and wind loads.

During the past autumn and winter peak loads emergency crews of Voronezhenergo not only quickly eliminated technological disturbances in the service area of the branch, but also repeatedly came to the aid of power engineers in other regions. So, Voronezh power engineers assisted in eliminating the consequences of the disaster in the Volgograd region in mid-December 2014 and in the Rostov region in late March of this year. Letters of thanks for the first responding and restoration work from representatives of the authorities and fellow power engineers from the affected regions are confirmation of the professionalism and high dedication of the branch’s specialists.

Currently, Voronezhenergo is starting mass work under the repair program in 2015, which is the basis of preparation for the successful operation through the next autumn-winter period.
