Smolenskenergo is preparing to operate through the fire hazardous season of 2015

16.04.2015

IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division carried out a set of measures aimed at ensuring the reliable operation of the electric grid complex of the Smolensk region in a fire-risk period. For the implementation of fire prevention measures Smolenskenergo allocated about 2 million rubles.

Ongoing activities are aimed at both ensuring the fire safety of equipment, buildings and structures in the production process and protecting the equipment from the effects of wildfires. An action plan was developed based on a thorough analysis of the operation through the fire hazardous season in previous years.

In preparation for the fire-dangerous period in all production units of Smolenskenergo planned activities of organizational and technical nature were carried out. Status of firefighting equipment and fire fighting primary means was checked. To protect the equipment of 35-110 kV substations without solid concrete fences and located in fire-hazard areas of ground fires, their firebreak plowing was performed around the perimeter with at least 2 meters wide. Premises of substations are carefully cleared of dry grass.

In addition, the branch held emergency and fire training of personnel, during which the mechanism of interaction of Smolenskenergo’s power engineers and specialized units - General Directorate of EMERCOM of Russia in the Smolensk region, local authorities, meteorological services, and forestry enterprises was worked through.

An important aspect of the program of fire prevention measures is organization of interaction of Smolenskenergo’s specialists with heads of municipalities and agricultural enterprises to conduct outreach to people in the regions on the importance of following the basic fire safety rules in security zones of power lines and premises of power facilities.

"Timely implementation of organizational and technical preparations for the fire-dangerous period allows to minimize the possibility of failures or even to avoid them," stressed the head of occupational safety and production control of Smolenskenergo Vasily Gipich.

IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division draws attention to the need to comply with rules of fire and electrical safety in the home, in garden plots, as well as in places of leisure, and reminds that in case of all fires near and directly at power facilities one is kindly requested to report via the toll-free direct phone line of power engineers at 8-800-50-50-115.
