Kursk Football League Cup Games started in early March 2015. The tournament brought together 30 teams from Kursk and districts of the region. At the preliminary stage the team of "Kurskenergo" confidently beat representatives of "Energie", "Sputnik", "RegionOpt", "Crystal" and advanced to the semifinals, where they met with the team of "New Interior", representing a major repair and construction company in Kursk.
In the normal playing time that difficult match was not broken open. Outcome of the game was decided with penalties. With a score of 4:3 the power engineers won. Goalkeeper of "Kurskenergo" Alexander Nosonov, a master of the administration and maintenance department, particularly distinguished himself having twice saved a penalty.
The Kursk Football League Final was no less spectacular. The team of "Kurskenergo" met with representatives of the company "Gazpromgazoraspredelenie". After the first half with a score of 2:3 the power engineers were losing to the gas company. During the break the coach of "Kurskenergo" changed playing tactics of the power engineers, and the team played in a new way. The result of the match is 5:3 in favour of the players of Kurskenergo.
"Winning at such prestigious tournaments - not an easy task," says the team’s coach Alexander Kotov, a specialist of the logistics department of Kurskenergo. "But the guys are doing their best, our team over the past three years is the undisputed champion of the Kursk region in football, and we will try to keep this tradition."
