Prevention of electric injuries is under special control of Smolenskenergo’s management

IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division summed up the implementation of the 2014 Program to reduce risk of injury to third-parties at facilities. The document called for the implementation of a set of measures to improve the technical operation of electrical installations and prevention of electric injuries. All of them were carried out in full and on time.

Smolenskenergo’s power facilities are regularly checked by commissions of power engineers: they inspect the integrity of doors, locks, the presence of locking devices. To inform the public at all power facilities of the branch there are signs and posters informing about the dangers of electric current.

In particular, in the implementation framework of the technical activities of the program Smolenskenergo’s specialists replaced 7.1 km of bare wire with self-supporting insulated wire for overhead lines of 10/0.4 kV, passing through the premises of mass stay of residents: schools, playgrounds, densely populated residential developments and others.

Particular attention was paid to outreach work among different population groups. Conversations of specialists of the branch in summer camps and electrical safety lessons in schools of the region have already become traditional. Throughout the school year Smolensk power engineers attend schools of the region where together with teachers do special training on electrical safety at lesson of "Basics of Life Safety", as well as extracurricular activities. Total in 2014 134 such classes were carried out. 18 letters of thanks were received from directors of educational institutions.

Smolenskenergo’s staff held "weeks of electrical safety" in districts of the region, organized a seminar-workshop for teachers of Smolensk schools, and later met with principals on a joint program to prevent children’s electric injuries.

In schools and recreation camps of the Smolensk region they spread propaganda products (calendars, books on electrical safety "Energolandiya", leaflets, colouring pages, timetables, bookmarks, posters, stickers in a notebook on the approved layouts by Public Relations), as well as audio and video clips for school teachers.

Throughout the past year, experts in public relations of the branch distributed memos and information leaflets with the rules of being near power facilities among boaters and fishing enthusiasts, contractors involved in the handling and construction work near power facilities.

IDGC of Centre makes efforts to prevent electric injuries in conjunction with the regional authorities and territorial divisions of federal agencies.

In the coming 2015 Smolensk power engineers will continue maintaining consistent and systematic work to prevent electric injuries among residents of the region. IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division signed an agreement on cooperation with the Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Smolensk region in the implementation of measures for the prevention of children’s electric injuries, electric injuries of population during unauthorized construction, repair, handling operations in the vicinity of power grid facilities.

The agreement was signed in order to improve the efficiency of interaction with law enforcement agencies to ensure security and safety. The main areas of cooperation are: to create conditions for the reliable, uninterrupted power supply to consumers in the Smolensk region and the conditions for the prevention of offenses against power grid facilities of the branch, as well as the exclusion of facts of electric injuries and accidents at power facilities.

The agreement is already in force and will be valid until the end of 2015.
