The first season of construction crews closed at Belgorodenergo

The first season of construction crews of IDGC of Centre – Belgorodenergo division closed August 15. Fourteen students of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov and Belgorod Industrial College received letters of thanks from the company's management for productive and quality work at power grid facilities in Belgorod and its district.

The labour semester of the first participants of construction crews occurred at the peak of the season of mass repairs and preparations for the upcoming autumn-winter operation period. For a month and a half the young people took part in refurbishing 6(10)/0.4 kV transformer substations, construction and installation of new cable lines, elimination of technological failures and utilization of forest residues after clearing ROWs along conductors.

Girls mastered the skills to work with the technical documentation: checked and updated certificates of electrical installations, helped technicians and engineers in the write-off of materials, updated the maintenance database, differentiating existing defects in the equipment and determining the necessary repair timeframe. The participants of the construction crews also performed creative work, in particular, in the preparation of preliminary schemes for grid connection of power installations.

The students’ mentor, Deputy Chief Engineer – Head of Group Vladimir Bakulin, summarizing the work of the construction crews, underlined: "We did not have random people, our students came to learn on purpose, it is those who wanted to grow professionally, to gain knowledge and practical skills. The time passed with mutual benefit: we have chosen some young professionals, and the students gained valuable experience. The young people want to continue working at the branch and we will be happy to take them to our team."

In addition to purely energy skills, the future power engineers plan to participate in several creative competitions and compete for the title of the best construction crew. Summing up the results and awarding winners will be held at the closing ceremony of the 55th Anniversary All-Russian Rally of Students’ Construction Crews, which will be held in November this year in the State Kremlin Palace.

A student of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov Svetlana Oxanichenko, who practiced in the production and technical group of Belgorod District Distribution Zone, expressed the general opinion of the participants of the construction crews at Belgorodenergo: "This summer for the first time I felt what it was to get up at six in the morning and work from eight to five in the evening. I understand what it means to be a power engineer, because power engineers are very special people. They have their own outlook on life and their ideas about the nature of the processes. I learned a lot, much of what previously only heard, and saw with my own eyes, tried to do something myself and I did. I want to thank my University and the branch Belgorodenergo for giving me the opportunity to try my hand," stressed the student.

According to Deputy Chief Engineer — Head of the Asset Management Centre of the branch Alexander Chumachenko, the work in students’ construction crews gives invaluable experience. "This is a good opportunity to look at the future profession and demonstrate your knowledge, strength and capacity. I hope that the work in the construction crews helped the young people in practice to obtain a clearer picture of their future profession," he underlined.
