"Thorny path: from a fitter to the director" - memoirs of the veteran of the Tambov power system Vasily Zhogolev were published under this title. The book presentation took place in the Veterans’ Council of Tambovenergo. The autobiographical collection includes Vasily’s diaries and memories: more than five hundred pages of text, where in a fascinating form the story tells the formation of the power industry in the Tambov land. In a kaleidoscope of time before readers there are people and events of the past era. Work on the book took Vasily Zhogolev almost a year.
In March of this year Vasily F. celebrated his 85th birthday. He began his career back in high school years, in 1944, when a boy came to work in a factory as a lathe operator. But already in his childhood Vasily Zhogolev dreamed to connect his life with energy. In 1953 he took a course for electricians at the Tambov CHP, which at that time was just beginning to build. In 1954 he participated in a landmark event – the first turbine unit start of the CHP. In the 60s he was entrusted to head "Energosbyt". Vasily F. had that responsible position for over thirty years. And he worked a total of 44 years in the Tambov power system.
For his great contribution to the development of the power industry of the Tambov region Vasily Zhogolev was marked titles "Excellence in Energy and Electrification" and "Honoured Worker of the Ministry of Energy", medals "Veteran of Labour" and "Order of Merit for Country of the II Degree", and a diploma in honour of the 50th anniversary of start-up of the Tambov CHP operation. Two commemorative medals for valiant work during the Great Patriotic War take a special place in the list of awards of the veteran.
After his retirement, Vasily F. did not lose touch with the company, which became his native. He is a member of the Veterans’ Council of Tambovenergo, and continues to lead an active social life.
During the presentation the author gave a copy of memoirs with a presentation inscription to the Museum of the History of the Tambov power system. The book will take its rightful place in the exposition of the museum complex. Summarizing the meeting, Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Tambovenergo division director Vladimir Syschikov stressed: "The team of the branch "Tambovenergo" remembers and respects the industry veterans, whose tireless work laid a solid foundation of the Tambov power grid. And today, veterans of the power industry are keepers of traditions, maintain close contact with the company. Active members of the Veterans’ Council of "Tambovenergo" enthusiastically participate in various socially significant events. This strong link between generations certainly will continue to persist."
