The Veterans’ Council of IDGC of Centre — Bryanskenergo division summed up the activities in the past year. The organization plays a significant role in the life of the branch. Veterans interact with the Human Resources Office, the primary trade union organization, the Youth Council and management of Bryanskenergo, both in terms of daily activities, and organization of social and cultural events.
One of the most important activities of the Veterans’ Council is a social support of the retired. In 2013, four veterans were given a voucher for a resort treatment, and five people received financial aid for the purchase of medicines.
Bryanskenergo’s veterans are active participants in all patriotic events and activities held in the branch. Last February, on the eve of the Day of Defender of the Fatherland, representatives of the veterans' organization took part in the annual meeting with participants of local wars working at Bryanskenergo. In the spring, on the eve of Victory Day, they, together with the Youth Council helped beatify the monument "Gorky defenders of the Bryansk land" and plant trees in the village of Golubeya in Dubrovsky district. And in the autumn, along with employees of the branch they participated in events to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Bryansk from Nazi invaders.
Throughout the entire 2013 with efforts of the representatives of the veterans’ organization the work was performed to collect and arrange materials for the organization of the Museum of History of the Bryansk Power System, scheduled to open in 2014.
Vasily Zakharenko, who has been the head of Bryanskenergo Veterans’ Council for many years, stresses that this year the public organization of veterans of Bryanskenergo closely with the management of the branch’s trade union organization, and the Youth Council will develop new approaches to work with veterans, increasing their involvement in the organization life.
"In 2013, the Veterans’ Council worked effectively implementing activities in all areas of action under the annual plan," stressed Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre — Bryanskenergo division director Roman Stefanov. "Caring for the older generation is an integral part of our work. The management of the branch always organizes traditional thematic meetings for veterans dedicated to Victory Day and the Power Engineers’ Day, as well as provides material support to former employees of the electric distribution grid complex of the region."
