Smolenskenergo is completing acquisition of emergency reserve

IDGC of Centre — Smolenskenergo division is finalizing preparations for the coming winter. Emergency provision of materials and equipment, needed for the autumn-winter operation period 2013-2014, has been staffed by nearly 100 percent. The volume of the emergency reserve in terms of money is more than 36 million rubles.

The required reserve of equipment and materials is created for the elimination of emergency situations caused by natural phenomena or man-made emergencies. With its help power engineers may shorten the time of restoration works at power lines and substations.

The emergency reserve of the branch includes wires and insulators of different brands, cable products, poles, power and measuring transformers, switches and other equipment. This year, the volume and range of the emergency reserve was significantly expanded.

«At this point the emergency reserve of Smolenskenergo includes 124 power transformers, 1630 insulators, 258 reinforced concrete and wooden poles, and 14.58 tons of wires for 0.4-110 kV overhead lines,» explained Head of Asset Data Management Office of Smolenskenergo Igor Kovalev. «This equipment is most often damaged as a result of weather conditions and requires prompt replacement.»

To date, joint layout of emergency reserve and mobile crews has also been revised so that the response time to process violations does not exceed two hours.

Some of the equipment is a centralized reserve of IDGC of Centre, stored at the branch.
