Orel power engineers of IDGC of Centre are fully implementing the plan for clearing ROWs along power lines

17.07.2013

IDGC of Centre — Orelenergo division in preparation for the autumn-winter season is clearing and expanding ROWs along power lines. At the moment this is the priority activity of the branch. Clearing measures are aimed at improving reliability, ensuring quality and uninterrupted power supply to consumers of the Orel region.

During the first half of the year Orel power engineers cleared more than 393 hectares of ROWs, having fully implemented the planned targets. Compared to the same period last year the volume of clearing increased by 7%. In general, in preparation for the autumn-winter operation period Orelenergo plans to clear 761 hectares of seedlings. This is more than last year’s figures by 77 hectares. It is also planned to expand over 115 hectares of ROWs along overhead lines, which is 31 hectares more in 2013.

The branch is fully provided with all the material resources that allow to perform the planned volume and properly prepare for the period of peak loads.

The branch’s staff is provided with brush cutters, chain saws, as well as special vehicles. For the second year the mulching technology comes help the power engineers of Orelenergo. Trunks of trees and shrubs are cut off and then crushed with a mulcher. As a result, the place of work is left clean, the soil is covered with a uniform layer of wood chips. The technology not only allows to increase productivity, but it is also more advantageous from the point of view of fire and environmental safety.
