Smolenskenergo chose the best scientific works of students of Smolensk Branch of Moscow Power Engineering Institute

In Smolensk, for the first time held a contest for "Best Research Project«among works of specialists and masters of the Department «Electrical Power Systems» of Smolensk Branch of Moscow Power Engineering Institute (FSBEI VPO «National Research University «MPEI»). The contest was organized by the educational institution and IDGC of Centre — Smolenskenergo division.

Deputy Director for Technical Issues — Chief Engineer Smolenskenergo Nikolay Kireenko became Chairman of the Central Contest Committee. From the branch the Contest Committee also included First Deputy Chief Engineer of Yury Krivtsov, Head of Human Resources Alla Korolkova and Head of the Department «Electric Power Systems» of Smolensk Branch of Moscow Power Engineering Institute Valery Kavchenkov.

The main objectives of the contest are the development of professional competencies of graduates, improving professionally significant personal qualities of the future power engineers, creation of conditions for professional growth and creative self-actualization of students. The competition was aimed to identify and support the best experts and innovators, talented students, who are able not only to develop an innovative idea, but also to offer practical steps for its introduction into production. During the competition research works were of particular interest that could be incorporated into the system of innovation management of the branch of IDGC of Centre and as a whole.

Following the contest, the experts identified the winners in five categories: the best research project in the field of technical solutions and technologies for power lines, substations, distribution and connection points; in the field of automatic control systems, relay protection and AMR; in the field of technical and organizational measures to reduce power losses in electric networks; and in research and development of the principles of valuation of reliability of electric distribution networks, in the field of new principles and technical solutions for process control; in the field of development of advanced solutions and measures to improve maintenance of grid facilities.

Speaking about the competition, Head of Human Resources of IDGC of Centre — Smolenskenergo division Alla Korolkova underlined: «This is a very important contest for us. Innovation implementation in the energy sector today is the most perspective activity of the company. At present, our young people have incentives, opportunities, and resources to do research and develop ideas that can and should be implemented in the energy sector. I am sure that such contests will help talented young scientists reach the top, and their work will be considered a priority in the formation of the innovative program of IDGC of Centre, as well as represent the Company at scientific and technological contests organized at the federal level.»
