Governor of the Orel region Alexander Kozlov gave special appreciation to the employee of IDGC of Centre — Orelenergo division Alexander Balabin, who won the XIII All-Russian competition «Engineer of the Year-2012». Awarding was held in the city of Livny in the framework of the meeting of the Council of heads of industrial enterprises of the region.
Alexander has been working at Orelenergo for 10 years. He has worked at a number of important projects for the energy system, including the implementation of the software package for calculation of power losses. For the contest the young engineer presented a list of eleven scientific publications, also relating to current topics of distribution networks calculation of losses. In his works, Alexander offers a new, more accurate method of calculation, analyzes the reasons for the increased technological power consumption for its transformation in electrical networks, as well as looking for ways to solve specific for the Orel grid issues.
The competition is held annually by the Russian Union of Scientific and Engineering Organizations, the International Union of Scientific and Engineering Associations, the Academy of Engineering Sciences after A. M. Prokhorov and Interregional Social Fund to promote scientific and technical progress. Last year it was attended by 60,000 engineers employed in various sectors of the economy from all regions of the country. The main objective of the project is to draw attention to the problems of quality engineering personnel in Russia, increasing the attractiveness of work and professionalism of engineering workers, the formation of interest to engineering work among young people.
