IDGC of Centre — Kostromaenergo division has started a comprehensive reconstruction of the 110/35/10 kV «KPD» substation in Volgorechensk. The substation is located in the industrial area of Volgorechensky pipe plant and is a key power supply centre for the enterprise. Since last year the plant has been already implementing the second investment project — the construction of a workshop for the production of medium-diameter pipes for the oil and gas industry. Grid connection of the new shop requires complete modernization of the substation «KPD», which was constructed in 1986. Power consumption of the new shop will be 9.5 MW, with a total plant capacity of 20 MW. For IDGC of Centre — Kostromaenergo division the reconstruction of the substation will be a major investment project, for the implementation of which the investment program in 2013 has 70 million rubles. The facility will be equipped with the latest equipment that meets modern requirements. The substation premises will be also expanded.
To increase the capacity of the substation it is planned to install two new 110 kV power transformers of 25 MVA each. The reconstruction involves not only the replacement of obsolete equipment, but also the use of technical innovations: fundamentally new relay protection and automation devices, remote control, and modern gas-insulated equipment.
On the premises of the substation there will a new substation control room installed. This is a block-modular building with a floor interior area of more than 100 m2, which will house all of the systems that support the operation and management of the substation equipment. The reliability of substation equipment in the normal and emergency modes will be significantly increased by the installation of an operating dc system with a battery.
The most modern equipment with remote control will be installed at the substation «KPD». This equipment is more durable, has a greater service life. Furthermore, it does not require continuous maintenance and is environmentally friendly and safe in operation. All this suggests that, after the reconstruction Volgorechensk will get a modern substation that meets all the requirements of reliability and safety, which will greatly enhance the quality of power supply to consumers.
The reconstruction of the substation will be performed without disconnecting consumers. The equipment will be switched off in stages.
