Students are having their practice in Yarenergo

IDGC of Centre — Yarenergo division became a place of taking pregraduation practice for 13 students of the Ivanovo State Power Engineering University after V.I. Lenin. Until February 22, the future power engineers will get acquainted with the work of the company and try their hand at solving actual industrial problems. This will help them better prepare graduation works and determine the potential place of employment.

In the Yaroslavl region there is no institution of higher education, which would train specialists for the distribution of energy. Therefore, for more than 10 years Yarenergo has been having fruitful collaboration with the Ivanovo Power Engineering University. Its students annually take their industrial practice in the branch. After graduation most of them return to Yarenergo already as young professionals.

This year the students are having their practice at the service of substations, service of power lines, section of perspective development, office of distribution networks, operational and technology service, electrical modes and diagnostics service, and Yaroslavl district Distribution Zone. Site selection and specific tasks that address the students during their practice, directly relate to the subject of research their paper. This makes it possible to better understand the subject matter and allow the future graduates to best defend their academic project.

During the practical training for the students excursions were organized to the Grid Control Centre, the substations «Kotorosl» and «North». The future power engineers got acquainted with the work of the dispatching service of the branch and saw the modern equipment at large distribution facilities of the power system. The trainees also visited the museum of Yarenergo, where they learned a lot of interesting facts about the company. At a meeting with the chief engineer of the branch, the students gained an understanding of the technical unit of the company, and in the event organized by the Youth Council of Yarenergo — about the corporate life of Yaroslavl power engineers.

The success of the pregraduation practice will be evaluated by heads of relevant departments — they will fill the appropriate form and express his or her opinion about the prospect of future employment of each trainee. In the name of students, who performed well during the practice, Yarenergo will send letters of guarantee stating the readiness to consider their candidacy as young professionals. After graduation, these students can be employed to work at the branch.

In 2012 Yarenergo employed 12 young specialists, for who the Yaroslavl branch was the first place to work. Some of them had their practice in Yarenergo. The power engineers, who were hired, are probation now. In the spring there will be preliminary results: a special commission will evaluate the level of development of theoretical and practical knowledge, and if necessary, will bring some adjustments in the internship program. Following the final results the future employment of each specialist, his transfer to the reserve or to another position will be decided.
