Tverenergo pays particular attention to electrical safety

IDGC of Centre — Tverenergo division summed up the work in the field of safety and health for 2012. For the current period the branch provided over 33.1 million rubles on activities under the program to reduce workplace injuries and improve the OSH management system.

Within the approved in IDGC of Centre Program to reduce the risk of injury occurrence Tverenergo conduct comprehensive and thematic checks, rounds and inspections of workplaces, drills the safe performance of work by crews at training sites within safety days. Following the results of the year on measures to prevent accidents the branch allocated almost 1.4 million rubles, 1.7 million rubles were spent on sanitary and hygienic measures for the prevention of diseases in the production for staff, and 1.7 million rubles on activities to improve general working conditions.

Tverenergo continues equipping staff with modern means of protection. In the current period 163 first responding and mobile maintenance crews were provided with rods for installation of portable grounding on overhead lines without climbing poles both for 6-10 kV conductors, and 0.4 kV conductors. Operational and maintenance personnel are fully equipped with uniform that is resistant to electric arc. During 12 months of 2012, about 21 million rubles were spent by the branch to purchase personal protective equipment, tools and accessories. Tver specialists also organized permanent control over equipment of crews with safety equipment and devices for safe performance of work, and classes are held with the staff on first aid. IDGC of Centre — Tverenergo division pays particular attention to electrical safety. To reduce risk of electric injuries and prevent intrusion into electrical systems, a set of special measures of organizational, technical, and information and training nature was developed.

The program to reduce electric injuries with third parties power engineers systematically hold master classes on electrical safety for schools, boarding schools, high schools, camps with the distribution of special materials on the rules of behaviour in the vicinity of power facilities. For schoolchildren and students the branch organizes excursions at substations in order to broaden the children’s and young people’s horizons, to help in choosing a future profession, and to focus attention on the need to observe safety precautions and rules of behaviour in the vicinity of power facilities.

«The work of power engineers involves some constant risk, so annually the branch has a number of the most important tasks to preserve the health and lives both of its staff, and all consumers of electric power,» — underlined the head of the production control and safety Office of IDGC of Centre — Tverenergo division Oleg Golubev.
