Smolenskenergo honours the operation and maintenance personnel who participated in the restoration of electricity in the Pskov region

24.12.2012

IDGC of Centre — Smolenskenergo division is honouring the operation and maintenance crews that provided comprehensive assistance in the restoration of power supply in the Pskov region, interrupted by the weather conditions.

For participation in the elimination of the aftermath at the power facilities of IDGC of North-West the employees of Smolensky, Velizhsky, Demidovsky, Dukhovschinsky, Monastyrschinsky and Yartsevsky Distribution Zones of Smolenskenergo — in total 33 people — have received letters of thanks from Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre — Smolenskenergo division director Sabir Agamaliyev.

Please, be reminded that at the beginning of December, a large part of North-West of Russia observed an interruption of power supply due to falling poles and power lines and broken wires because of their complete icing, falling of tall trees near high voltage lines due with wet snow sticking and strong wind.

IDGC of Centre — Smolenskenergo division did not stay away from the trouble and promptly sent operation and maintenance crews to Distribution Zone # 1 of Production Department “Eastern Electrical Grids” of IDGC of North-West — Pskovenergo, located in the village of Bezhanitsy, to provide comprehensive assistance to connect socially important facilities and restore the integrity of the main grid.

The crews consisted of real professionals who had to participate many times in the restoration of power supply in the Smolensk region and neighbouring regions.

The staff was fully provided with gear and equipment for filing and trimming trees, clearing ROWs along power lines. To perform the work on ROW clearing the branch sent three hydraulic hoists from Smolensky and Roslavlsky Distribution Zones. To be able to work in the dark the Smolensk power engineers were using a light tower. The crews were moving with off-road emergency and repair vehicles that have not only compartments for tools and equipment, but also sleeping berths for a crew, eating, and with heating and ventilation systems installed.

Despite the severe weather conditions, which the Smolensk power engineers had to face, they fulfilled their task in full, having assisted in the restoration of the power supply of the Pskov region in all locations.
