An awarding ceremony for the winners of the annual journalism contest “Energy of Belgorod in the mirror of mass media”, traditionally organized by the Belgorod regional branch of the Union of Journalists of Russia, IDGC of Centre — Belgorodenergo division and other energy companies of the region.
The contest was established 12 years ago. Its goal — to draw public attention to the power industry and to identify talented journalists who can present any information available about the energy industry.
Awarding the winners, Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre — Belgorodenergo division director Roman Tkachenko stressed: “We have very good and positive relations with journalists: business-like and practical. Belgorodenergo supplies power to about 700,000 electricity customers, and district and regional media gives us the opportunity to tell people about the achievements and current issues of our industry and thus to find more understanding from consumers, to see their response and to know what they care about.”
This year practically all regional and district media (more than 40 mass media), as well as journalists who write regularly about energy took part in the contest. Author teams submitted articles, photos, interviews, essays, which describe the activities of the power industry in the region.
Contest entries this year differed with lots of sketches of everyday life of ordinary electricians, whose labour reliable electricity supply in the region depends on, articles on electrical safety of the population, innovations implementation, and preparation for the autumn-winter peak load operation period.
In determining the winners in 10 contest categories the relevance of the touched subjects, professionalism, objectivity and depth of the topic were taken into account. This year, the traditional nominations were added with several new: “For the best material for electrical safety”, “For a number of publications about the workers of power industry”, “For coverage of social partnership in the energy sector”, “For the best material on the operation through and preparation for the autumn-winter period”.
In the nomination “The best creative solution to highlight energy issues” the winner was TV “Belgorod”. “In a series of articles in the regional, city and district media about energy” the first place was won by the newspaper “The Banner of Labour” (town of Biryuch), “For a series of reports on TV and the news agency on energy issues” — STRC “World of Belogorya”. In “For the social aspect and the relevance of publications on energy” the winner is the newspaper “Victory” (town of Stroitel), in the category “For drawing public attention to energy” — the newspaper “Valuyskaya Star” (town of Valuiki). The best in the nomination “For a number of publications about the workers of power industry” was the newspaper “Dawn” (city of Stary Oskol), in the category “For coverage of social partnership in the energy sector” — the newspaper “Unity” (city of Belgorod). In “For the development of positive public opinion on energy in the region” the winner is the newspaper “Belgorod Truth”, in the nomination “For the best material on the operation through and preparation for the autumn-winter period” — the newspaper office “Our Belgorod”.
In addition, individual awards were won by Oleg Goncharenko (newspaper “Belgorod Truth”), Julia Khaustova (STRC Belgorod), Vadim Tsyganko (newspaper “Call”), Marina Usenkova (newspaper office “Our Belgorod”), newspaper office “Voice of Belogorya”, information agency “Mediatron”.
In 2013, the contest “Energy of Belgorod in the mirror of mass media” will continue.
