Voronezh power engineers conducted large-scale exercises to eliminate a major accident

01.11.2012

Workers of IDGC of Centre — Voronezhenergo division conducted in the real conditions exercises to eliminate a technological disturbance, in which the replacement of a damaged pole of SK-22 type (22 meters) for a 110 kV overhead line was practiced.

According to the plan of the participants of the training in the morning at 08.05 as informed by a third-party the branch received information that a Kamaz vehicle knocked down a pole of SK-22 type of high-voltage lines of 110 kV (Conductor-110-3). As a result, the substation “Construction” and “Zhilposelok” were de-energized, which led to the restriction of power supply of consumers in the settlement of Shilovo.

In no time a mobile first responding restoration crew of Voronezh service of power line Service left for the site, with special equipment to eliminate the accident. For an hour, the pole of SK-22 type was replaced. As a result of operational actions already at noon normal operation of electrical installations was restored.

Deputy Chief Engineer — Head of high-voltage grid Office Pavel Yanshin stressed that such exercises are unique. “Previously, we conducted similar training, but they were more theoretical. Now we had a real great job right on the spot. It is worth noting that all the services worked as promptly and professionally as possible. All this makes it possible with optimism to look at the difficult winter peak load period, which traditionally increases the risk of technological failures,”- said Pavel Yanshin.

Please, note that just a few days earlier in another branch was no less large-scale exercise. The exercise simulated an interaction between cooperating grid organizations and the executive authorities in charge of reliable power supply of residents of the Voronezh region. Representatives of Utilities and Energy Office of the Voronezh region and EMERCOM of Russia in the Voronezh region also participated in it. As part of the system response exercise the activities were practiced by operators of Voronezh Transmission Control Centre, operational staff of the Upper Don PMES, Voronezh CHP-1, and Voronezh CHP-2.
