Procurement program of vehicles for 2011-2012 of Smolenskenergo to ensure stable operation of the electric grid maintenance

19.10.2012

IDGC of Centre — Smolenskenergo division thanks to its well-thought investment policy of the company is renewing the fleet, and replacing worn-out or potential end-of-life vehicles with purchased modern ones.

In 2011-2012, 137 vehicles were purchased to replace those expected to write off, including 31 special vehicles and 34 crew wagons of increased mobility, which renewed the vehicle fleet by 18%.

The branch received four units of a fundamentally new vehicle “TREKOL”. This transport has increased mobility, allowing to travel on public roads, significantly reducing the time to respond to emergencies and deliver staff of power line service and Distribution Zones to areas of difficult terrain and to power line sections in wetlands. three bucket trucks “PMS-328-01” with their lifting height of 28 meters on the chassis terrain “URAL” were also purchased, which came to replace outdated vehicles — motor derricks TV-26, which did not allow to carry out the tasks in full.

Delivery of materials to the work site — also an important issue. Very often the material, used for the repair, is delivered by hand to the fault location. In 2011, six increased mobility vehicles “KAMAZ 540530” were purchased with loaders PALFINGER.

The recently renewed vehicles will allow power engineers to more quickly, safely and efficiently perform maintenance and repair service of power facilities. Purchase of modern “one make” vehicles will not only reduce the cost of their operation, but also reduce the total number of vehicles. Thus it will increase the speed of servicing business units, reducing fuel consumption by decreasing the number of vehicles and the cost to repair the aging fleet.

“Procurement of transportation will help provide stable operation to maintain the electric grid, more efficient execution of production tasks set, including those in the autumn-winter period 2012-2013. Expected and already acquired vehicles will allow the branch not only save a lot of fuel and lubricants, parts and repair work, but also improve the efficiency of the very work of power engineers”, — underlined Head of logistics and transport mechanization Office Dmitry Kovalev.
