Prevention of electric injuries – first attention!

10.08.2012

IDGC of Centre — Tambovenergo division held a round table on prevention of electric injuries. The meeting was attended by representatives of RTN Office, Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Tambov region, the regional department of education and science, journalists from leading media in the region.

Key themes of the event were the prevention of accidents at power grid facilities, compliance with the rules of protection zones of power lines and development of a common policy in this direction.

Opening the meeting, Acting Deputy Director for Technical Issues of IDGC of Centre — Tambovenergo division Gennady Kosenkov emphasized that the power engineers are conducting big systematic work aimed at preventing electric injuries, especially among children. Raising awareness starts just with preschoolers as the information learned in childhood remains in the memory forever: “To save lives and health, it is important to comply strictly with the rules of behavior near electrical installations. Most cases of electric shock is due to the unauthorized work in protection zones of power lines, fishing near power lines, unauthorized entry to the territory of power facilities, attempted theft of equipment”.

The branch takes a range of measures of organizational and technical direction. Existing energy facilities are equipped with special safety barriers “Razor”, CCTV systems, security and fire alarm alarms. “The management of IDGC of Centre pays special attention to security of facilities. Unfortunately, every year locks are cracked on the doors of package transformer substations, which enterprising citizens use in household, — say Deputy Director for security of IDGC of Centre — Tambovenergo division Valeriy Skryabin. — We are working closely with the internal affairs bodies, carry out joint activities and preventative raids”.

This theme was supported by Head of Department of Information and Public Relations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Tambov region Alexey Zhdanov. He noted that a few years ago stealing the wires of power lines was a big problem of power engineers and law enforcement officials. Having joined the forces, they managed to do much. Thus, according to statistics, in 2012, no similar crimes in the Tambov region were recorded. The police have promised to raise appropriate awareness of electrical safety to the public through the district commissioners and juvenile inspectors. For this purpose the power engineer handed over colourful posters and brochures.

Tambovenergo is implementing its program for removal of overhead power lines passing over the territories of playgrounds, preschools and schools. Warning signs and labels are put on poles of power lines and other electrical equipment. Informational posters are placed on the banks of the ponds near high-voltage power lines, warning the population about the danger of electric shock.

Experts of Tambovenergo put particular significance on interaction with municipal administrations, the regional Emergency departments, city and district departments of police, and education authorities.

In the course of the meeting the parties agreed to consolidate efforts to prevent injuries to third parties at distribution grid facilities. The management of Tambovenergo is convinced that joint action will certainly give visible results in reducing the risk of accidents and help save lives.
