Students of BSTU after Shukhov visited a system-wide training centre of Belgorodenergo

06.07.2012

First-year students of Power Engineering Institute of Belgorod State Technological University after V.G. Shukhov within the study of technological practice attended a system-wide training centre of IDGC of Centre — Belgorodenergo division in the town of Valuiki. Power engineers introduced the young people with electrical equipment, which is now used in the company and the practical application of modern technologies in the power engineering sector.

Practice Leader, Deputy Director for Research of Power Engineering Institute Igor Shcherbinin explained that for the first-year students, majoring in “power supply”, practical immersion in the profession of a power engineer is difficult to overestimate. “The training centre meets the requirements of educational programs and topics of the curriculum, it recreates a complete picture of the power supply system of a standard settlement, trainings and exercises of power engineers are conducted there, who improve their skills. So for the young people, who have just entered the university, the familiarization with the future profession will be good”, — stressed Igor Shcherbinin.

At the beginning of the practice the students had their preliminary instructions and visited a university training centre with 35-10 kV equipment. And at the system-wide training centre of Belgorodenergo they had the opportunity to get acquainted with all kinds of transformer substations (pole-mounted, double-ended, dead-ended), overhead power lines, 35-110 kV substations, reclosers and boosters. The tour of the training centre was made by Head of Valuisky DEN Alexey Lysenko and Chief Engineer of DEN Alexey Sevostyanov.

After that the future power engineers visited the unique of its kind substation 35/0,4 kV “Christmas” and “Jubilee”, which were commissioned in 2010. These power facilities provide electric power supply to a poultry processing plant of Valuiki poultry farm.

“To learn how to work with all electrical equipment, the young people will need more than one hour and not even one day. Therefore, we assume that it was the first day of practice at our training centre for those students who decide in a serious way to engage in energy industry and return to us in a year or two to solidify their theoretical knowledge received at the university in practice”, — stressed Alexey Lysenko.
