The Relay was started on the Victory Day. Then, at the solemn meeting copies of the Victory Banner were handed over to the District of Electrical Networks of Central Region of Kostromaenergo. Director of the branch Alexander Glebov opened the event with words of gratitude to the veterans at the front and in the rear who worked for the Great Victory: "We have to keep piously the memory of those who defended the freedom of our Motherland in World War II. Today we pay homage and respect to all the fallen and living heroes. Let the symbol of courage and heroism - the Banner of Victory - is stored in each district of our region and unites generations with the memory of the great feat of our fathers and grandfathers, their courage, fortitude and devotion to the Fatherland!"
The action demonstrates the continuity of generations and the inextricable link with the heroic past. In connection with this members of the Youth Council and representatives of municipal administrations were invited to that festive meeting. At the ceremony children of employees of the branch, creative groups of cities and regions had congratulatory performances. Veterans of Kostromaenergo were the guests of honour of the patriotic meetings.
Today the branch has only 76 veterans left, who at the front and in the rear forged the Great Victory. It's what every employee of the power system is proud of. In addition, the branch keeps piously the memory of the victims. 45 employees of the Kostroma power system received awards and medals for their courage and heroism. 529 employees of the power company were awarded the Medal "For Valorous Labour in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945".
Employees of Kostromaenergo have been participating in the Relay of Victory Banner for the second year in a row. In 2011, Alexander Glebov handed over a copy of the Victory Banner to a war veteran, a member of the Presidium of the Regional Council of Veterans, a former employee of Kostromaenergo Stanislav Borisov. A solemn meeting was held at the Monument to the power engineers of Kostroma City Grid, who fell on the battlefields of World War II.
In 2012, power engineers continued the patriotic Relay. Each District of Electrical Networks of Kostromaenergo with gratitude and respect took those relics for eternal storage. A replica of the main symbol of Victory will be stored in all Districts of Electrical Networks as a sign of deep respect for veterans and in remembrance of those who gave their lives for the Motherland.
