Kursk power engineers train children on electrical safety

Prevention of children’s electric injuries is under the joint with the administration of the Kursk region plan to reduce the risk of injuries of unauthorized persons at electric grid facilities - one of the most important tasks of Kursk power engineers of IDGC of Centre.

Another lesson on electrical safety was held for senior pupils of secondary school # 4 in the city of Lgov of the Kursk region by experts of IDGC of Centre – Kurskenergo division.

The great interest of the pupils and teachers to the lesson, in addition to the importance of the topic, was related to the fact that this time the lesson was taught by Mikhail Kambul, Chief of Lgovsky District of Electrical Networks (DEN) together with the experts of the training centre for operating personnel of Kurskenergo spent, who graduated from this school more than thirty years ago.

The experts of Kurskenergo told the children that often the main causes of accidents, associated with electric shock, are the lack of knowledge of simple rules on electrical safety. The power engineers showed the pupils a video from which the children learned why they must not approach any ragged wire, climb poles of power lines, and why they must close doors and windows during a thunderstorm. The youngsters received much information about warning signs, printed at the substations and other power equipment.

The employees of Kurskenergo paid particular attention to correct handling of electrical household appliances. They once again reminded the children that a turned on iron should not be left unattended even for a couple of minutes and a running TV must not be cleaned from dust with a wet cloth.

During the session various options were studied of being under electric current and behavioral options of a man with electric shock and those people who assist him. The experts of Kurskenergo drew attention to the fact that children under any circumstances should not help a person with electric shock - it is the specialists of Districts of Electrical Networks and the around the clock free phone of power engineers at 8-800-50-50-115.

School principal Stanislav Lantsov thanked the staff of Kurskenergo for the informative, useful conversation, expressed confidence that the cooperation between the school and the DEN will be continued and electrical safety lessons will help children make the right decisions in a difficult situation.
