The prevention and reduction of occupational injuries, occupational safety, health and lives of personnel are the priorities for IDGC of Centre. 45 million rubles were spent on performance of the measures for the labor protection in Smolenskenergo for 2011.
6.1 million rubles were spent on the measures to prevent accidents, 33.2 billion rubles were invested in the purchase of personal protective equipment, tools and fixtures, 5.46 million rubles — on sanitary and hygienic measures for the prevention of diseases in production, 226 thousand rubles were spent on the measures to improve the working conditions of staff.
Within the approved in IDGC of Centre Program to reduce the risks of injury comprehensive, targeted checks, patrols and inspections of workplaces, unannounced inspections of crews at work within days of labor are conducted at the branch. During the year the work continued on the equipment with modern means of protection: mobile fist responding crews and mobile maintenance crews are provided with sets of rods for installation on portable grounding onto overhead power lines without climbing the pole both for PL-6-10 kV and for PL-0 4 kV. Operational and operational maintenance personnel is fully equipped with uniform that is resistant to electric arcing.
The priority areas in occupational safety and health are training the staff with safe methods of work, increase of knowledge in the field of occupational health and safety. In June 2011, 12 experts of Industrial Control and Safety Office of IDGC of Centre — Smolenskenergo division were trained to be instructors- resuscitators. Power engineers acquired skills in first aid in cases of clinical death, electric shock, after falling from a height and in other situations. Experts of the branch mastered skills to first aid with the use of modern teaching aids. Upon completion of training all trainees were issued a certificate of professional development.
To improve the effectiveness of prevention of electric injuries and compliance with safety rules days of labor are held monthly in the Company. In September 2011 within one of these days of labor the staff of IDGC of Centre — Bryanskenergo division paid a working visit in Smolensk. The purpose of the trip was to study the experience of colleagues of the Smolensk branch of IDGC of Centre in the field of labor safety. The guests visited Pochinoksky and Monastyrschinsky DENs of Smolenskenergo, became acquainted with how the knowledge of employees is tested on safety in accordance with rules, instruction on safe working practices at the workplace, work permit under voltage, attended theoretical lessons of the staff, visited garages and the substation 110/35/10 “Pochinok” evaluating not only the work of the staff on duty, but the available equipment and protective gear.
