Kostromaenergo has completed the reconstruction of the substation Eastern-1

07.12.2011

Power engineers of IDGC of Centre — Kostromaenergo division have completed a comprehensive reconstruction of the substation (SS) “Eastern-1”, replacing all the equipment of the power facility for new, and changed the voltage level from 35 kV to 110 kV. The feature of the works at the power facility was the fact that they were performed at the substation in operation in stages without interruption of power supply of consumers.

The need for reconstruction was due to moral and physical aging of the substation equipment, as well as increasing loads in the city. The reconstruction has significantly increased reliability of power supply in a large part of the city and opportunities for technological connection to the division’s electric grid for new customers have increased.

“Eastern-1” — one of the most important power facilities in Kostroma, which supplies electricity to residential areas, industrial plants, housing organizations and infrastructure institutions.

To increase the capacity of the substation two new 110 kV transformer with a capacity of 25 MVA each have been installed. During the reconstruction, not only outdated equipment was replaced, but also technical novelties were used: principally new devices for relay protection and automation, remote control and modern gas-insulated circuit breakers were installed. In addition, the SS “Eastern-1” has two 110 kV multi-faceted metal towers. These poles have proven themselves in service and reliability in the construction of the 110 kV overhead line “Manturovo — Kronostar”.

“The most modern equipment with elements of remote control and video surveillance was installed at the facility, which is less demanding in maintenance and reliably supplies customers throughout the Eastern part of the city of Kostroma with uninterruptible power supply”, — said Deputy Director for Capital Construction of the division Andrey Zakharov.
