Important area of Smolenskenergo activity - occupational health and safety

For 9 months 2011 IDGC of Centre — Smolenskenergo division has spent 30.9 million rubles on performance of measures for occupational health and safety. About 23 million rubles of these have been invested in the purchase of personal protective equipment, tools and accessories, 3.8 million rubles have been spent on activities to prevent accidents, 165.800 rubles have been disbursed on measures to improve the working conditions of staff and 4 million rubles — for sanitary hygienic measures to prevent diseases in the workplace.

During the reporting period the work continued on equipping the staff with modern means of protection: 168 first response and repair crews have been are provided with sets of sticks for installation of portable grounding onto overhead power lines without climbing the pole. The staff of first response and repair crews has been equipped in full with protective outerwear suits that are resistant to electric arcing.

The system of checks of safety conditions in structural units and Districts of Electrical Networks has been established in the division. Comprehensive, thematic checks, inspections and reviews of workplaces and spot checks of crews at work are performed in the division within the approved in IDGC of Center Program to reduce the risks of injury.

“First of all our efforts are aimed at the preservation of health personnel, prevention of accidents at power facilities with employees of the division, as well as third parties. The main objectives of occupational health and safety is complete provision of the personnel with protective equipment, development and implementation of the OSH management system, increase of monitoring compliance with regulations and safety standards”, — said Head of production control and safety Office of IDGC of Centre — Smolenskenergo division Vitaly Mordykin.
