Kostromaenergo is ready for the autumn-winter period

19.10.2011

IDGC of Centre — Kostromaenergo division received the document, confirming the implementation of measures aimed at ensuring reliable electricity supply during the season of maximum loads — the Certificate of readiness for the autumn-winter period.

Key indicators of readiness of the division to work in the period of peak loads — timely execution of the maintenance campaign and investment program of the division. Kostromaenergo has executed all stages of preparation for winter strictly following the schedule.

Obtaining the Certificate of readiness for the autumn-winter period (AWP) is always preceded by hard work of power engineers — modernization and technical upgrading of facilities, implementation of the maintenance and investment programs, proper training of personnel. For the upcoming autumn-winter period in the framework of the annual maintenance campaign 24 substation of 35-110 kV and 441 transformer substations of 6-10/0, 4 kV have been repaired.

The peculiarity of the repair program this year was the increase of funds to perform integrated repairs. For nine months overall 19 substations of 35-110 kV have been repaired, 43 transformer substations have reconstructed in complex and overhead lines of 35-110 kV and 0.4-10 kV have been repaired. Within the investment program of Kostromaenergo the power engineers have implemented a series of measures on reconstruction of electric grid facilities: they have replaced current and voltage transformers of 110 kV, arc suppression devices at 17 substations of 35/110 kV, replaced high-voltage bushings and other equipment. In addition, they have performed a comprehensive reconstruction of the substation 110 kV «Ilinskoe» and installed a second 110 kV transformer 2.5 MVA at the substation «Loparevo». Currently the comprehensive reconstruction of two substations is in the final stage. Kostroma power engineers are transferring the 35 kV substation «East 1» to the higher voltage of 110 kV. The retrofit will increase the maximum power of the substation from 26 MW to 50 MW. The upgrading of the equipment at the 110 kV substation «North» will ensure uninterrupted power supply to consumers. Both substations are major energy facilities of Kostroma.

In addition, ROWs clearing and expansion of power lines has been declared as the priority activity for the power industry in 2011. For 9 months 2011 the specialists of Kostromaenergo have cleared 967 hectares of ROWs along overhead power lines of trees and shrubs and expanded 74.6 hectares of ROW. In preparation for the AWP the specialists of IDGC of Centre — Kostromaenergo division have checked the power supply circuits of critical infrastructure facilities, as well as hospitals, boiler plants, large settlements and sites of social significance.

" The assessment of the readiness of the division to work in harsh winter conditions is an indicator of power supply reliability, — noted Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre — Kostromaenergo division director Alexander Glebov «. — Energy facilities largely determine the development of the region — without any additional distribution capacity the growth in the region is impossible».
