The number of energy efficient street lighting fixtures will increase in the Lipetsk region

06.10.2011

The modernization of street lighting is going on in the Lipetsk region. Power engineers of IDGC of Centre — Lipetskenergo will install over 1,500 energy-efficient street lamps in the Lipetsky and Dobrovsky districts.

The reconstruction of street lighting under the state program for energy saving and energy efficiency with the funds of the regional budget is performed by Lipetskenergo specialists in five more districts: Volovsky, Izmalkovsky, Dankovsky, Leo-Tolstovsky and Stanovlyansky. Until the end of the year more than 1,000 lamps with energy saving lamps will appear on their streets.

During this time power engineers will install new equipment — lamps, photo relays and automated systems for control and metering, reconstruct and construct new networks with high-tech self-supported insulated wires.

Outdated in design and low efficiency incandescent and mercury lighting will be replaced with energy efficient sodium lamps with sealed reflector with high lighting performance and longer life cycle. Automatic lighting control will be performed with photo relays depending on the ambient light. On the renovated and new lines this function will be performed with automated control equipment and metering, transmitting information about the qualitative and quantitative parameters of the network at a given site to the Grid Control Center of the division. In some places the modernization of street lighting requires reconstruction and construction of new power lines, which is also carried out using modern technology. All outdated bare aluminum wires will be replaced by power engineers with self-supporting insulated wires. Significant advantages of this wire is the low operating cost, high performance, allowing to exclude crossing of wires from strong wind, penetration of foreign objects due to good insulation, “conductor galloping” — build-up of snow, ice.

The implementation of modern equipment will significantly increase the energy efficiency of street lighting, quality and reliability of power supply and also provide reduced power consumption, which is especially important for areas where there is a shortage of power. Application of new technologies will provide up to 70% energy savings on lighting.

“The upgrading of street lighting will continue into next year. This will improve not only the living level of inhabitants of the region, but also the reliability of power system in the region as a whole. Also one of our objectives is quality service of the installed energy-saving lamps. Currently, the service area of Lipetskenergo covers about 6000 street lights, maintenance of which is performed within 75 long-term contracts with consumers ”- summed up the Head of interaction with customers department of the division, Yury Karikh.
