Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga region to continue to increase the share of smart electricity metering

24.03.2023 As part of achieving one of the Company’s strategic goals - reducing electricity losses to the technical level, Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga region are implementing a whole range of measures from changing business processes to using innovative equipment.

Smart metering devices are a key element of an integrated information technology system for combating losses, as well as a necessary tool for prompt detection and suppression of theft.

In 2022, specialists of the Companies installed about 285 thousand smart meters, which made it possible to increase the share of smart metering to 27.1%. The goal for 2023 is to increase this indicator to 30.6%.

Modern metering devices allow consumers to control the schedule of electricity consumption and save due to the possibility of choosing a tariff. The smart meter transfers information to the energy company automatically. Checking, setting up the device and monitoring network parameters are also performed remotely. At the same time, the consumer does not bear any financial costs for installation and maintenance of new equipment.

“The company annually invests colossal financial resources in projects for the development of intelligent electricity metering systems. Their implementation makes it possible to obtain a clearly regulated “digital footprint”, which increases the transparency of metering for both the energy company and the consumer,” stressed Igor Makovskiy, General Director of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga region.
